Under this Initiative Research Unit program, young foreign researchers with unique, creative ideas are given the opportunity to further research fields being promoted by RIKEN and to contribute to enhancing RIKEN’s international environment. This program was launched in January 2009.
These Initiative Research Units are headed by a foreign Initiative Research Scientist who is given five years to pursue interdisciplinary research with a global perspective. Core laboratory members are fixed-term researchers, and the lab budget is funded by an allocation of RIKEN’s operational funds and external funds.
We are carrying out basic bionanoscience research, and engineering proteins and DNA to build a toolbox of increasingly complex and functional structures.
The main goals of our research group are focused on enhancing understanding of fundamental electrochemical reactions on the Li-air using an in-situ scanning probe and pursue to develop high-energy Li-air batteries.
