Outline

Our division works to promote collaborative research supported by the four pillars of “international,” “industrial,” “academic” and “internal” in order to support a founding principle of RIKEN, “vital integration for emergence and innovation.” With the goal of solidifying the reputation of RIKEN throughout the world, we establish collaborative frameworks to activate exchange between distinguished foreign and domestic scientists. We also aim to accelerate collaboration with industry through comprehensive alliances and consortia to support societal development. Our intent is to accomplish these goals by mixing a broad range of natural sciences without boundaries, promoting maximization of characteristic leading-edge research efforts at RIKEN, pioneering new research fields from the long-term point of view and accelerating exchange between differing fields of endeavor. Our ceaseless aim is to bind together the highly fragmented research vista of today to construct a dynamic environment of collaboration. To this end since 2008 we have employed dedicated coordinators to vigorously promote collaboration between research and technological activities.
